I'm a New Yorker, and so are my folks. I say that partly to throw shade at the surrounding Californians, but mainly to introduce you to us. We don't know what we are doing. We are renting a 1600 square foot house in San Jose CA. It has no second floor. We are shook as Hell. Moreover, we didn't have any idea what to do with the little backyard, side garden and front yard. It came with crappy clay soil and a variety of plants making the best of it.
We largely ignored the grounds until Covid-19 forced us to quarantine ourselves. And then it struck us: this could be it. We might have to fend. For reference, we are all overweight black people. My Dad (codename Pips) does contract IT support, my Mom (codename Mooma) is furloughed, and I'm a veterinarian in a residency. Between the three of us we have a healthy respect for nature, but only Mooma has any experience growing anything.
So come. Join us in our jaunt into trying to not set the gardens aflame. I'll be posting some of our attempts and current events while hiding in South Bay from the protests and tanks.
