Remembering the fruits

It is Cali winter now but I still miss the fruit from the summer. The pears were especially good, they had this sort of gritty texture, more than store bought ones, but were extremely sweet. The flavor didn't linger long and was gone, it almost tasted like a brief intense sip of honey. Very odd. The peaches from the side garden were a little rough to harvest, as the birds and bugs had gotten to many of them. But they were of a quality I'd never had before, now I understand the limitations on buying from the store. We were able to freeze some of the peaches but I'm not sure if that preserves the taste. Now the lemon tree is the only fruit tree still producing, though it is a bit slower and the lemons aren't as big this time of year.
